God's plan for you has always been that you would have a thriving, joyous relationship with Him! He wants children who can enjoy all His goodness, love, compassion, mercy, and blessings! Since it is His nature to love, He takes great pleasure in living for others. He has more thoughts about you than there are grains of sand on the planet! (See Psalm 139:18.) Frankly, He can’t get you out of His mind.

And yet, something happened with the first human being that affects us even today. If you’ve ever heard of “Adam and Eve,” you know that their rejection of God as Father—their decision for independence from God—resulted in a separation from Him that has been the “default condition” of mankind ever since. This separation from God is called “sin.” You didn’t have to commit a sinful action to be “in sin.” In other words, we’re not sinners because of what we have done; we’re sinners because of what Adam did. And yet, we quickly find our actions making us guilty of the same separation—the same rejection of the God who created us for more.

Nevertheless, consider this: If you didn’t have to commit a “sin” to become a sinner, then what do you have to do to become “right” with God? Romans 5:19 gives the answer: “For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.”

The word “righteous” means “perfect.” While I may not be perfect in my eyes or your eyes, I know that when Father God looks at me, He sees perfection! The reason is because He sees Jesus. Jesus was the “one man” who made “the many” righteous. Jesus—the Son of God who has always existed from eternity past to eternity future—came at a moment in history and put on human flesh. (See John 1:1-3,14.) He willingly gave up everything about Himself that could be considered as “God” so that He could live just like one of us. (See Philippians 2:5-8.) The result is that He lived like us, thought like us, and was tempted just like us; but He was “without sin.” (See Hebrews 4:15.) Jesus didn’t carry the “sin nature” that had been handed down from generation to generation since Adam. He was conceived miraculously and Fathered directly by God. Jesus demonstrated to us what a real relationship with the Father looks like: miracles, authority, healing, wisdom, freedom, joy, peace, blessing, favor, innocence, and more!

Since that time, the greatest decision that faces every human being is this: Which Father will you allow to “father” you? Would you rather Adam be your father? ...independent from God? Or would you rather God be your Father? ...the One who loves you so passionately and can’t stop thinking about you? Would you rather be fathered by a dead man or by the living God of love?

You see, Jesus didn’t merely come to show us a different way of living. He came to make a way for us to return to the relationship with God that was always intended! John 1:12-13 tells us, “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husbandís will, but born of God.” By believing in the saving power of Jesus, we can become the children of God we were always meant to be!

When Jesus died, He met the demand of sin. Sin—separation from God—always results in death. (See Romans 6:23.) But Jesus is the opposite. Jesus is life! (See John 10:10 and 11:25.) When Jesus, who was innocent, died a criminal’s death on the cross, it was a great injustice of eternal proportions. But God made certain that His Son’s blood would not be wasted. That one sacrifice paid the price for your freedom and mine. As a result, the “sin nature” handed down from Adam was also put to death once and for all! When Jesus died, all died. (See 2 Corinthians 5:14.) Sin is no longer the dominant force in creation. Jesus is!

Now a great decision has been placed before you: Will you receive Him as the Savior that He is? Or will you remain dead? You see, Jesus was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit. And we are promised that anyone who puts their faith in Him as Savior will also receive new life from the Holy Spirit. It’s a life of relationship with God the Father. It’s the life you were always meant to live! He has forgiven you for everything you’ve done while you were separated from Him. Will you come to Him today? Simply choose to leave your old way of living behind, step into the Father’s embrace, and begin your relationship with Him through Jesus!
